Collaborative Pianist

Equally at home as a concert and collaborative pianist, Joy Lee holds Bachelor and Master’s degrees in Piano Performance from the University of Toronto, where she studied with Professor Marietta Orlov. At the University of Toronto, Joy was the Pianist for the MacMillan Singers for its 2001-02 Season and collaborated with various musicians in concert. Ms. Lee is also a graduate of the University of Michigan with her Master’s degree in Accompanying and Chamber Music where she received full scholarship and teaching assistantship and studied with world renowned Collaborative Pianist Martin Katz.

In 2004 and 2005, Ms. Lee was an Assistant Conductor and Coach/Pianist for the Bay View Music Festival’s Production of Die Fledermaus and Pine Mountain Music Festival’s Production of Rossini’s La Cenerentola. Joy is a scholarship winner of numerous music competitions as well as music festivals, such as those at the Orford Arts Center and the Banff Center. In 2005-06, she was a Faculty member at Albion College in Michigan as an Adjunct Piano Instructor and worked as a Staff Coach/Pianist for both University of Michigan and Albion College. Ms. Lee collaborates with artists internationally and coaches and works with singers at the University of Toronto since 2006. On top of her recital schedules with the student singers at the University and other performances, Ms. Lee has been a part of the Nathaniel Dett Chorale since 2006 and enjoys the complexity and variety of genres that the Chorale performs.
